Joan Milà Brut Nature

22,00

Unlike all sparkling wines under the DO Cava (an artificial region that includes nearly all of Catalonia’s wine-growing areas and small “islands” wherever there is a producer: Requena, Valencian Country, Rioja, Navarre, or Extremadura), our sparkling wine is produced in a specific region, the Penedès.

This sparkling wine is a tribute to Joan Milà, co-founder of Mas Comtal, a creative genius, tireless innovator, and great lover of the wine world.

We are talking about a wine with a second alcoholic fermentation inside the bottle, following the traditional method of making sparkling wines, from an initial wine made with Xarel·lo grapes from the oldest vineyards of the estate (between 60 and 85 years old) and with Chardonnay. The vineyards are cultivated following the guidelines set by the European regulation on organic agriculture, since 2001.

In this case, we are discussing a sparkling wine certified by the Penedès Designation of Origin itself.

Aging: A minimum of 15 months.

Food pairing and service

For enjoying throughout the meal from appetizers to desserts. Especially recommended with fine cured ham, oven-roasted meats, or Brie cheese.

Sommelier note

Bright straw color with greenish hues… Aroma: Ripe fruit, mountain herbs, and spices. Palate: Fruity, flavorful, with hints of sweetness, bitterness, and balsamic notes. (Guía Peñín 2008)

“Old gold hue. Medium intensity, with prominent aromas of candied fruit, quince paste, subtle toasted notes, hints of butter, and balsamic undertones. Fresh and pleasantly smooth, featuring notes of candied orange, grilled bread, and a pleasant bitter finish.” (Guía de Vinos Gourmets 2010)

It begins with great intensity of nuances and a highly expressive aromatic profile. Notes of wild herbs, citrus peel, hay, toasted bread, and a touch of butter add character. On the palate, it is full of energy, with good acidity, a serious and complex progression, and a consistent finish. BURBUJAS DE FELICIDAD, TASTING 279, MI VINO MAGAZINE Nº 279 NOVEMBER 2022
